I cannot Ping my E88
E88 SNMP TCP/UDP Make sure the LNK LED is lit on the E88 front panel. Check to see if you do not have BootP or TFTP enabled. If there is no DHCP or BootP server on the network and the E88 has BootP enabled, even if you previously configured it with an IP address, it will not answer to pings. Another cause of this problem is that the PC ARP cache has not been cleared. Often, when replacing or testing an E88, the same IP address will be used for all the different units. Typically the first unit tested will respond to the ping but the rest will not reply. If you reset the ARP table of the PC sending the pings, the problem will be solved. E88 TCP/UDP If you have set the ARP cache value too low this might also affect ping replies.

I cannot configure my E88 using a HyperTerminal session
E88 SNMP TCP/UDP The version of HyperTerminal supported by some older operating systems often connects to the E88 but will not allow keyboard entries. You can try and solve this problem by rebooting your PC or else install the upgraded version of HyperTerminal available at www.hilgraeve.com for download. E88 TCP/UDP The terminal settings are 19200 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, No parity and No flow control. E88 TCP SNMP The terminal settings are 9600 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, No parity and No flow control.

I cannot configure my E88 using the windows configuration utility
E88 SNMP Usually this happens when the E88 was previously configured with an IP address or subnet mask out of the range of the local subnet of the PC from which you are attempting configuration. The E88 will have to be configured using the serial cable or the IP address and Subnet mask of the configuring PC changed to match that of the E88. This utility will only work if the PC and E88 are on the same local subnet. E88 TCP/UDP This utility does not work with the E88 TCP or the E88 UDP products.

I have configured my E88 with an IP address but it does not work. What have I done wrong?
Once the E88 has been configured with an IP address and subnet mask, you need to set the parameters of the serial port. Once the serial side of the connection has been configured you need to enter a LOCAL TCP port number. This is the port that the application resident on a remote PC will connect to. Data received on this port by the E88 will be sent out on the serial interface to the serial device. Refer to the Product Manual for more detail.
