November 2003 - SAN People is releasing a new low cost ARM9 product range under the MULTENET brand.

By Sean McCree, SAN People.

SAN People, an established global supplier of network connectivity products, today announced the Multenet brand name. The company, a leading innovator in networking technology will package its tried & tested EtherPAD range and also launch the exciting new PocketPAD range under this descriptive banner.

Sean McCree, the company's Marketing Manager says that the low-cost, high-performance PocketPAD range rollout will start in January 2004. If the recently completed field tests provide a measure if its capabilities, this range will be an industry beater. The entry-level PocketPAD 1 has a single RS232 interface and provides seamless serial-to-Ethernet access. This unit, together with the two and four port versions, offer unequalled value-for-money. Additional variants to be released in February 2004 will support an RS422/485 and a fibre-optic Ethernet interface.

The showstoppers of the new range are a cost-saving 802.3af Power-over-Ethernet interface and a state-of-the-art Multidrop Ethernet interface.

A feather in the cap of the company's development engineers is that the complete range with all it's diverse variants, including the open source Linux codestack embedded on the latest Atmel ARM9 processor were developed spot on target; a daunting feat for most development houses. This of course enables the company to deliver superior time-to-market schedules and customers get the latest available technology.

The entry-level products have been given a vote of confidence by one of the company's large customers by reserving the first 1000 units off the production line.
