NETWORKING THE SPACEWRITER IBALL
Case Study - Networking the SpaceWriter IBall
The iBall is a product from Spacewriter in the UK. This electronic device displays text and simple bitmaps around a plastic dome in one compact unit. Messages are uploaded via a RS232 serial cable from a PC.

Images are sequenced together to create simple animations with the Spacewriter editor program. Various settings available such as Image repeats, columns, frames are available.

A PocketPad is used to interface the IBall to the LAN. Together with Serial Anywhere data traverses a Virtual COM Port on the PC to reach the IBall via the PocketPAD.
