The Tygerberg Administration, part of the Cape Town City Council (CCC), uses MultiPorters from SAN People to connect various Serial
Devices (PLC's, SCADA, etc.) situated at remote locations (Bellville, Durbanville, Goodwood, and Parow) onto a Wireless LAN. More
remote locations (Gordon's Bay, Kraaifontein, Somerset West, and Strand) will follow.
The MultiPorters act as a medium and protocol (Serial-to-Ethernet) converter. The data is sent to a central Operations Control Centre.
At the Control Centre, the electrical power consumption levels are monitored. This allows the Tygerberg Administration - SCADA and Load
Control Department, to react promptly to any variation of Electrical Power demand in the Tygerberg Administration area.
